Ethan is currently the Technical Director for the Young Auditorium at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater a 1342 seat proscenium theatre operating as a road house presenting local, national, and international touring acts and events.

Ethan served as the Technical Director and Lighting and Sound Designer for the Theatre Department at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh from 2022-2023 designing, building, and mentoring students on four shows per year and teaching one class per semester.

Ethan was a member of the Design and Technology Faculty for the School of Theatre and Dance at Northern Illinois University from 2019 until 2022. He was an instructor and fulfilled the role of Production Manager from 2021 - 2022 and was the Resident Scene Shop Foreman and Assistant Technical Director 2019 - 2021. As a masters candidate, Ethan also served as Technical Director, Assistant Technical Director, and as a carpenter on various productions. He earned his Masters of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Technical Direction from NIU in 2020. Work from Ethan’s time at NIU can be seen here.

Prior to NIU, Ethan was the Technical Director and head of lighting and sound for the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center which hosted a range of local, national, and international clients, events, and touring productions. The SMPAC also worked with and supported the South Milwaukee School District and South Milwaukee High School Drama Club. The SMPAC regularly hosts over 500 events in a calendar year.

Ethan earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in 2015. While attending UWSP, he completed various lighting, scenic, and property designs.

Ethan has been a freelance consultant, designer, electrician, and technical director in Wisconsin since 2008 working with companies including the Green Bay Community Theatre, the Madison Theatre Guild, Forward Theatre Company, Four Seasons Theatre, and Children’s Theatre of Madison.

Ethan served on the Madison Theatre Guild Board of Directors, as well as the Bartell Theatre Foundation Technical Committee from 2010 - 2012. Ethan has been a member of the AutoCAD customer Council Beta Team since 2019. Ethan currently serves on the Board of Directors for USITT Midwest as the VC of Communication.

In his free time, Ethan spends time researching, learning, and pursuing traditional woodworking with traditional hand tools in his home shop; refurbishing and restoring tools; cooking; playing with his cats; and being a father.
