NIU - Production Manager, 2021 - 2022
Duties Entail: Serving as the Production Manager for the School of Theatre and Dance, teaching, mentoring, advising stage managers, running the production office, overseeing productions, purchasing, budgeting, budget planning, venue and room scheduling, season planning, creating seasonal production calendars, managing rentals, advising undergraduate stage managers, and assisting the Director and School of Theatre and Dance.
Additional Fall 2021 duties included: Serving as acting Area Head for Design and Technology and acting Technical Director. This included an eleven-credit course overload, advising graduate technical directors, advising a final project, chairing multiple committees, and other duties as needed to serve the school and students.
There were four mainstage productions and six studio productions in the 2021-2022 season as well as a number of student productions, fundraisers, and capstone projects.
NIU - Scene Shop Foreman and Assistant technical director, 2019-2021
Duties Entailed: Serving as the Resident Scene Shop Foreman and Assistant Technical Director for the School of Theatre and Dance; teaching THEA 255 and 255A Stage Technology Scenery and Lighting and the laboratory component with a team of instructors and graduate assistants; teaching THEA 355 Scene Technology; supervising the scene shop, scenic work calls, and strikes; procuring materials, tools and equipment, and other goods; supervising graduate employees, undergraduate employees, and lab students; maintain and submit payroll for employees, maintain and repair tools and equipment, maintain and manage inventory of tools and equipment, materials, and consumables; maintain MSDS and SDS, manage scene shop budget; and managing special projects as needed.
There were four (and a half) mainstage productions before we shut down on account of COVID-19 in the Spring of 2020. During the 2021 season we shifted to streaming performances and learning more about that process with our students.
NIU - Scene Shop Graduate Assistant, 2017-2019
Supervising undergraduate students, working with student employees, leading crews, lumber and metal construction, rigging, automation, transportation. By the Bog of Cats and Wonderfully Alice not shown. The 2017-2018 year included seven mainstage productions and a number of studio and student productions. At the end of the year, we packed up what were the temporary homes for the School of Theatre and Dance in preparation to move into the finished new building after five years of new construction and renovations. During the 2018-2019 year a large amount of the technical directors was breaking in the new building, unpacking everything, and finding out what wasn’t finished or needed work. The first season back in the building featured six mainstage productions.
